What is AD Code Registration?

An Authorized Dealer (AD) Code is a unique 14-digit numeric code issued by an RBI-authorized bank where you hold your current export-import account. It links your bank account to Customs so that foreign exchange received from exports can be tracked accurately.

Every exporter must register their AD Code at each customs port from which they intend to ship goods. Without a registered AD Code on the ICEGATE portal, Customs will not allow generation of a Shipping Bill meaning your export consignment simply cannot move.

New AD Code & ICEGATE Rules 2026 Update

ICEGATE has rolled out e-KYC linked AD Code verification for 2026, requiring banks to digitally confirm exporter identity before code issuance. Customs now mandates Digital Signature Certificate (DSC) based AD Code registration at every new port, real-time linking with IEC and GSTIN data, and faster RoDTEP/Duty Drawback claim processing tied directly to a verified AD Code. Multi-port exporters must now re-register AD Code separately for each port under the unified ICEGATE 2.0 system. SSA TAX ensures your registration is fully compliant with these updated norms.

Why is AD Code Registration Important?

Without AD Code registration, you cannot generate a shipping bill or legally export goods from an Indian port.
