What is FSSAI?

New FSSAI Rules & Regulations 2025
FSSAI has rolled out major updates in 2024–2025. Stay compliant or face heavy penalties.
Mandatory Front-of-Pack Labelling (FOPL)
All packaged foods must display a clear nutrition facts table on the front. High fat/sugar/salt products require warning labels. Non-compliance results in product recall.
QR Code Traceability for Packaged Foods
FSSAI now mandates QR codes on packaged food labels linking to source, ingredient, and safety information applicable to all packaged food manufacturers from 2025.
Online Food Aggregator Compliance
Swiggy, Zomato, and other aggregators are required to verify and display FSSAI license numbers of all listed restaurants. Unlicensed operators face delisting.
Stricter Renewal Enforcement
FSSAI has introduced automated penalty triggers for late renewals. Businesses must renew at least 30 days before expiry. Grace period has been reduced.
Enhanced Standards for Dairy & Meat
New microbiological standards have been introduced for dairy, meat, and seafood processing units. HACCP compliance is increasingly expected for state licenses.
