What is BIS Hallmark?

BIS Hallmark is a certification issued by the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) that confirms the purity of gold or silver articles as per Indian Standards (IS). It helps consumers identify genuine and quality-assured gold jewelry.

Since June 16, 2021, hallmarking has been made mandatory for gold jewelry in India (with a few exemptions).

What is HUID?

HUID (Hallmark Unique Identification) is a 6-digit alphanumeric code stamped on each hallmarked gold item. It ensures traceability, enhances transparency, and protects both consumers and jewelers.

As of 2023, only HUID-based hallmarking is accepted in India.
