A Producer Company is a special type of company formed under Section 378A to 378ZU of the Companies Act, 2013 (earlier under Companies Act, 1956), for the benefit of farmers or producers engaged in:
Agriculture
Animal husbandry
Horticulture
Forestry
Fishing
Handloom or handicrafts
Bee-keeping or rural industries
The main aim is to improve income, reduce exploitation, and encourage collective business activities.
10 or more individual producers
OR 2 or more producer institutions
OR a combination of both
Only producers or producer institutions can become members. Others (e.g., traders) cannot invest or be members.
Production, harvesting, procurement, grading, pooling, handling, marketing, selling
Processing activities like drying, distilling, brewing, canning, packaging
Export of produce and import of goods/services for members
Welfare of members (credit, insurance, education, training)

Bank statement or utility bill (as address proof)
For Registered Office:
Rent agreement or property ownership proof
Utility bill (not older than 2 months)

Obtain DSC (Digital Signature Certificate)

Required for all directors.
Reserve Company Name (SPICe+ Part A)
Name must include "Producer Company Limited".
File SPICe+ Part B (Incorporation Form)
Attach MoA, AoA, declarations, identity/address proofs.
PAN & TAN Application
Filed along with incorporation.
Receive Certificate of Incorporation
From the Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA) with CIN, PAN, and TAN.
Usually 15–25 working days, depending on document readiness and government approvals.
Open company bank account
Appointment of auditor within 30 days
File INC-20A (Commencement of Business)
